"Conventional medicine failed to help my long standing back pain. When I was directed to Wendy the pain began to ease after the first session and now, 4 years later, I visit Wendy regularly and now have no problems. In fact, I am back in the gym!

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is best recognised in the West for the treatment of pain. The aim of treatment is to deal with the presenting problems whilst also addressing underlying issues - taking into account muscular, neural, skeletal and other physical conditions and combining this understanding with TCM diagnosis.

All kinds of pain conditions can be helped with acupuncture including:

  • Back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Migrane
  • Neuralgia
  • Temporomandibular joint pain (TMJ)
  • Shoulder pain
  • Bursitis
  • Tendonitis
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Knee pain
  • Arthritis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Dysmenorrhea (painful periods)
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Sport and other injuries

In recent decades in the West there has been increasing interest in the use of acupuncture in pain management. Research is flourishing, revealing a better/emerging understanding of acupuncture from a Western point of view and suggesting that acupuncture can help:

  • regulate brain chemicals and some hormones
  • strengthen immune function
  • improve blood circulation
  • help repair damaged-inflamed tissue

The World Health Organisation (WHO) published a review of acupuncture clinical trials in 2002 and identified a considerable list of conditions that can be treated by acupuncture.

Revive and replenish

As we get older and our natural reserves decline we become more inclined to physical weakness, which is often expressed in aches and pains, arthritis etc. Chinese Medicine (Acupuncturechinese-herbs and/or shiatsu) can help to replenish and rebalance the body, whilst alleviating pain.
